Scope of Work

STUDIO 49 collaborated with Andy Summers and Taschen Books to produce a limited edition book that is somewhere between photojournalism and an illustrated diary. Typeset in three languages, this unique book follows The Police on tour around the globe between 1980 and 1983 through the eyes of one of their most intimate insiders, guitarist Andy Summers. From the American West to Japan, Summers’s 600 plus photographs capture bandmates Sting and Stewart Copeland on-and offstage, as well as landscapes, still lifes, and passersby they encountered on the road. Our work includes every aspect of the digital design process, from working with the photographer to edit the photographic content to the design of the book and it's packaging.
